Sports Innovation Challenge

Alex led and coordinated the design, manufacturing and testing of an activity & posture tracking wearable device accompanied with the development of an Android application and Machine Learning.

Core responsibilities included: Completing a literature review; designing detailed schematics; presenting to a technical audience; coding an Android application in Java; implementing a machine learning algorithm (SVM) in C++ and integrating it into the application; demonstrating the device; creating and displaying a scientific poster; and evaluating the project in a final report.

Academic Paper - Integral feedback in Synthetic Biology

Alex's master's project was the inspiration for the publication of an academic paper:

Integral feedback in synthetic biology: Negative-equilibrium catastrophe

Research Scholar - Health AI

Alex was awarded an Imperial College Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) scholarship to undertake a research project titled ‘Using machine learning to classify heart disease from cardiac MRI data’. He successfully trained and validated a convolution neural network (CNN) to classify different heart pathologies from MRI images of cardiac anatomy.
